Description

The inaugural Board + Batten talk series focuses on the work of mid-20th century architect Hugh E. Taylor’s work in Las Vegas, Nv. This talk given by our executive director, Heidi Swank, pulls the user into a thread of history that ties together 19th and 20th century concerns over tuberculosis and hygiene with efforts to create a new form of architecture, called Modernism, that played a role in reducing illness. Drawing from the Hugh Taylor Archive, owned and curated by NPF, Dr. Swank will ground the efforts of Modernism to create healthy spaces in homes that were built in Las Vegas. Join us for this interactive and informative talk and come away seeing Modern architecture in a new light.  Zoom Meeting ID: 946 5832 1416.  Meeting password will be emailed once you register.
