Street Corner Stories: 1pm
600 Fremont Street
Las Vegas, NV 89101
Join us for a curated walk through Downtown where street corners are telling the stories of the day. The 90 minute walking tour, navigated by cultural urbanist, Richard Hooker, will highlight eight street intersections, mostly along Fremont, with original narratives layered in architectural, commercial, and social histories, all informed by mid-century perspectives, and spiced with some quirky Vegas lore.
We meet up at 10thand Fremont, a corner igniting Atomic memories along a post-war stylish motel row, with mid-mod roadside beacons blinking neon, pools, refrigeration, a corner now punctuated with the re-settling of the 1970s Golden Goose sign, twirling with a Vegas reminder of the meanings of the golden eggs. Then we’ll head up to Fremont for the rest of the story.
