Family Feud: Havana vs. Las Vegas in the 1950s

Before Castro's revolution, Havana and Las Vegas were rivals for the title of "Monte Carlo of the Americas." Cuba was exotic, tropical, wild, and close by. Las Vegas was dry, dusty, and remote. In Cuba, the mob invested heavily in fabulous hotel-casinos such as the Nacional, Capri, and Riviera. Yet, some of these same investors were among Vegas's biggest boosters - Moe Dalitz, Sam Tucker, and front man Wilbur Clark. In 1958, the Nevada Gaming Control Board forced them to choose, Cuba or Las Vegas, but not both. Spend a late afternoon in the Oscar B. Goodman room of the famed Mob Museum sipping whiskey, and learn about the fascinating relationship between Havana and Las Vegas. Architectural Historian, Peter Moruzzi, will have plenty to say on this topic and, trust us, it's worth it! As an added bonus, access to the Mob Museum is included in your ticket price. You'll want to be sure you have time to explore!

• Ticket price also includes free entry into the Mob Museum until 7pm. 

PARKING 

• Free parking will be available in the Mob Museum Parking lot, on the West side of the building. Please tell the parking attendant that you are attending the Home + History event inside the Oscar B. Goodman room.
