Film Viewing

Description

Get out of the sun and enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments while watching Eames: The Architect and the Painter, directed by Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey. There will be a short discussion preceding the film.

Charles and Ray Eames were a married couple living and designing together in Venice, California in the 1960s. Charles, a trained architect, and Ray a skilled painter, spent their lives creating art and architecture within their beautiful home-turned studio. Together they created a new, less serious view of modernism. Combining the sleek lines and minimalist models that architects adored with improved functionality and bright colors, the Eames adopted a sense of whimsy and approachability to the world of design. The film takes viewers through the ups and downs of their lives together, illustrating the events that influenced their creations and forever changed the world of design.
